Children’s Parade

Parade, 2008
This Cinderella-themed float took top honors in the 2008 edition of the Meadowbrook Children’s Parade

The Children’s Parade in June is a favorite event among kids of all ages, having been held annually since 1951. Each year a theme is established and neighborhood children enjoy dressing up and marching along. Participants often include a fire engine or ambulance, and the French Road Elementary School band traditionally leads the way.

Long followed by a neighborhood picnic under a tent, in recent years the parade has ended with an ice cream social and entertainment provided by a popular children’s band or entertainer.

The 2023 edition of the children’s parade and ice cream social was held on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at noon. After the parade Wildlife Rockstars provided a Meet and Greet with wild animals.

The 2024 edition of the children’s parade is slated for the Sunday, June 2nd at 11 AM. We are still seeking a coordinator for this treasured event — this could be YOUR chance!
…to make a difference
…to use your skills and talents
…to meet other Meadowbrook families
…to carry on a neighborhood tradition

Tasks include: choosing the theme, finalizing arrangements with the FRES band, contacting the town for barricades, contacting Brighton fire/police to request their participation, arranging for simple refreshments, arranging for entertainment (optional).

You don’t have to take this on solo; you could recruit a friend and do it as a team! We have all the information you’ll need in order to take on this role, and we’ll help you recruit the day-of-event volunteers you’ll need in order to make things run smoothly. All we need is YOUR leadership to be successful!
